Sri Chinmoy then lifted his own body-weight and was interviewed on Fairfield Exchange, a Norwalk-based television show. Next came an organ recital at Woolsey Hall at Yale University in New Haven, followed by an interview with the New Haven Register. Sri Chinmoy then read two of his poems – his very first poem in English, ‘The Golden Flute’ written c. 1952-53, and a poem he had written just a few hours prior to the award ceremony held at the United Nations in New York. Sri Chinmoy concluded with a note of gratitude to his hosts and a short talk, entitled ‘American Freedom In My Poetry’.

An exhibition of Sri Chinmoy's Jharna-Kala paintings opened at a gallery at 154 Wooster Street in Soho, New York, NY, USA.



1976

Sri Chinmoy opened an evening concert of classical Indian music with two Bengali songs and a short meditation at the United Nations in New York. The programme, which was sponsored by The United Nations Meditation Group as a fund-raising effort for UNICEF, included recitals by classical singer Jyoti Pandit and sarod player Vasant Rai.

Sri Chinmoy offered a Peace Concert (morning) at Küchlin Theatre in Basel, Switzerland.

Sri Chinmoy offered a Peace Concert (evening) at Hallenstadion to an audience of 5,500 in Zurich, Switzerland.

Sri Chinmoy offered a Peace Concert at New York University in New York, NY, USA.

Sri Chinmoy offered a Peace Concert at Schloss Wilhelminenberg in Vienna, Austria.



1993

Sri Chinmoy lifted Arno A. Penzias, 1978 Nobel Laureate for Physics, in Jamaica, NY, USA.

Sri Chinmoy offered a Peace Concert at the Sun Dome Stadium, University of South Florida, in Tampa, FL, USA.



2001

Sri Chinmoy lifted 13 people in Jamaica, NY, USA.

Sri Chinmoy received the Heart of Kuwait Award.
