On 19 September 1995, Sri Chinmoy gave the opening dedication at a classical music celebration in honour of the opening of the 50th Session of the UN General Assembly. The event was hosted by Ambassador Istvan Nathon of Hungary.
Before the classical chamber concert, Sri Chinmoy gave a short musical offering - singing with the harmonium.
The main classical concert included members of the New York Philharmonic orchestra.
During 1995, Sri Chinmoy gave 50 concerts in honour of the United Nations 50th Anniversary.
