Sri Chinmoy reads a letter from Mikhail Gorbachev, which was hand-delivered on 4 February by Vladimir Petrovsky, Director-General of the United Nations, Geneva, Switzerland, at Annam Brahma restaurant in Jamaica, Queens, New York.
As translated:
Dear Sri Chinmoy,
Dear friend,
I am availing myself of this opportunity to give you most sincere regards on my behalf and on behalf of Raisa Maximovna.
I appreciate your constant benevolence and kind feelings.
I thank you for those messages which you sent me. I share the enthusiasm of your ideas. They are close to what I think. As you, I am still an optimist as far as the triumph of ideals of the good, justice and cooperation is concerned.
Sincerely yours,
M. Gorbachev
