As floods ravaged Europe, a symbol of hope stood above the rising waters. Media outlets around the world – from Australia to China; from India to the USA; and from South Africa to the Middle East – published remarkable photographs of the statue of Sri Chinmoy in the flooded Vltava River in central Prague, Czech Republic, June 2, 2013.

The full-size, bronze statue of Sri Chinmoy, made by British sculptor Kaivalya Torpy, was inaugurated in Prague on October 23, 2009. Now standing on the grounds of the Museum Kampa, it was the second statue of Sri Chinmoy in Europe – the first statue, inaugurated 2 years earlier, is in Oslo, Norway.
