Sri Chinmoy offers a seven-instrument concert – ‘Seven Earth-Cries Ascend, Seven Heaven-Smiles Descend’ – at Public School 86, Jamaica, NY, USA. In order of performance, he plays the esraj, Western (golden) flute, cello, bass flute, Indian banjo, bell chimes (carillon) and harmonium. After playing each instrument he recites an aphorism on which the audience meditates for ten minutes.
